COOKING WITH SPICES IS TASTY AND HEALTHY
Did you know our Cro-Magnon ancestor was taller than us (about 6 feet-tall) and lived longer?
All our modern diseases – cancer, cardio-vascular disease, obesity, cellulite, diabetes, osteoporosis, allergies…- were unknown to him.
Statistics show that modern diseases are increasing rapidly.
Cancer have doubled since 1970, cardiac disease has increased and 30% of the population is overweight.
THE REASON ARE CLEAR – BAD EATING HABITS
We eat too much sugar, processed meat, bad fats, empty calories, junk food, alcohol, soft drinks and fast food. Eating like this is harmful to human health.
Contrary to popular belief humans are not omnivores capable of eating anything and everything.
We eat too much, what we eat is harmful to our health, and, what’s more we don’t get enough exercise.
SPICES CAN HELP US TO IMPROVE OUR DIET
So that we can break the cycle of bad eating habits that cause our “modern diseases”
HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE EXAMPLES
1 DRINKS : Alcohol and soft drinks are poisonous. 1 liter of “coke” contains 20 spoons of sugar.
Replace them with flavored water e.q. mint, lemon, or fruits, or sometimes with wine possibly flavored with red, fruits, cinnamon, cloves.
2 SUGARS : Processed foods contain extra sugars. We eat 40 times more sugar than we did 100 years ago. It’s too much! Think about combining fruits with spices e.q. pineapple with ginger, strawberries with hot pepper and basil, apples with cardamom or cinnamon, and eat chocolate with a minimum cocoa content of 80%.
3 MEAT : Animal fat is harmful to our heath. We eat 10 times too much. Think about healthier meats. Chicken marinated with herbs and grilled, or, even better, marinated fish e.q. in olive oil, lemon, garlic or herbs.
4 FATS : We eat too much bad fat. Marinated herbs in olive oil which is good for cooking, or rape seed oil which has a high omega 3 content. Limit your consumption of butter, cream and other oils.
5 BREAD : Make your own bread using unrefined whole-meal flour with herbs. It’s much tastier!
6 SAUCES : Pasta sauces for example. Say good bye to ketchup, mayonnaise and other commercial sauces. Make your own at home. Chopped tomatoes with herbs – basil, thyme, oregano or bay leaves, with a touch of olive oil or a little vegetable stock. Clearly better for your health.
With spices you can make 101 excellent salad or vegetable dishes and you can eat as much as you like !!
